I am about to max out my 401K again this year. Already max out my Roth last year and soon this year again. For 401K and Roth, I am looking long term, but for camera fund, yeah it would short term. Although if I am seeing profit going, I’ll let it run.

mint.com does not net your returns/refunds against your purchases in the trend section. Like you, i also dont like seeing increasing monthly spend.

I’ve also recently finally understood what it means to “buy what you need and what you want”.

It sounds like you are trying to make short term profit by timing the stock market?

Regarding investing, I hope you are maxing out your 401k in a well balanced portfolio, concentrating in funds with low expense ratio.

haha, so yeah I have to NOT sell the camera for while. I really want to stick to my plan, so this also forces me to learn investment because I really want that camera. I think that’s a win-win.

Does that mean you not gonna be getting the camera? … good stuff though.. especially with kids now, gotta know where the money went. Like mom said, not about what you make, it’s about how you spend~
